Eyes: Matthew's eyes are technically blue, though they often appear to be a more violet shade. They're a rather common round shape and are usually not so easy to see behind ovale shaped glasses.
Hair: Matthew have wavy blond hair; they fall at chin level and tend to curl a bit. He also have one stray curl that constantly falls in front of his face; he used to dislike it, but is now used to it and doesn't even notice it anymore. As a side note, his hair are wonderfully well kept and always look good.
Other features: Matthew have a rather pale skin for no reasons since he tends to go out a lot. He's at the end of his teenage years and still keeps a bit of the awkwardness that came with it. He's quite tall and looks pretty skinny, though under his rather baggy clothes he hides some muscles built with hockey practice (He always preferred it to Quidditch honestly, and still enjoys playing hockey as often as he can.)
Character Background:
Likes: (3 minimum)
-Maple related food: Matthew in general have a sweet tooth, though Maple syrup takes the cake. He can drink straight from the jar and could eat anything as long as there's Maple syrup on it. He also always manages to carry a bottle on himself.
-Helping people: Matthew might not stand out much, but he's genuinely nice. He loves to help people to his best ability. He's good enough in school and can help with homeworks as an example.
-Animals: Mattie absolutely love animals. They're adorable to him and he gets along well with them. He especially loves Polar bears.
-Friends: Matthew loves to make friends; he's not very good at socializing usually and is often overlooked or forgotten, though once he manages to make a friend he'll stick to them and always be there for them, even if he have to do something else. He loves to spoil them too.
-Hockey: Even if it's not a very "magical" sport, he loves it. He still loves to play hockey and watch it on TV, even if it might look a little out of place. He doesn't really care about it though. He also enjoys figure skating though this one is more of a guilty pleasure. He's fairly good at it too.
-Books: Matthew also enjoys quiet activities; since he doesn't have a lot of friends, he fills his time by reading. It allows him to escape his problems; beside they're easy to carry around and can be used everywhere. He especially loves to read in front of a fireplace during winter or outside lying on the grass during spring.
Dislikes: (3 minimum)
-Being alone: Matthew doesn't enjoy being left alone. It's often the case, which makes it all the more unbearable to him. He's fine just standing by the side of someone, even if he doesn't talk.
-Being forgotten: The Canadian have a small problem of self esteem due to being often overlooked or forgotten. He always tries his best to make that problem better though.
-Warm weathers: Matthew is quite resistent to the cold, however he really can't deal with heat. He'll probably eat loads of ice cream, hang out in swimming pools or stay around inside ice rinks if he can.
-Bullies/Violence: Matthew also had a few problems with bullying before; when he was noticed people tended to hit him. He really would rather avoid being around people who could be mean to him. He also believe violence is a bad way to deal with things and will try to avoid it at all costs.
Personality:
Matthew overall is a nice guy; he never really does anything bad to please people around him. He likes to help out, and would feel bad having bad grades so he works for it. It's nothing out of the ordinary really; he's pretty normal. He's often forgotten due to that, he doesn't stand out enough to have people pay him attention for long. Since he's not a problem child, they assume he's fine with it but it hurts him. He'll hold a grudge against the people he feels are responsible for it, mainly those who always manages to steal the attention from him. He tends to escape it by reading or daydreaming. He'll sulk about it, but will soon enough go back to trying even harder. all of this caused low self esteem; he craves for attention and friends but is always scared to mess up somehow, which is why he doesn't open up too much. He's afraid people won't appreciate the more carefree and playful side of him. He doesn't like violence at all, which leads to him acting in more passive aggressive ways. While he refuses to hurt people with his fists, he can say really mean things or manage to sabotage a project if someone really pissed him off. But it takes a lot to make him snap. He will often feel guilty about it, though it's the only times he refuse to apologize. He surprisingly can be quite stubborn.
Pet?: Yes, Kumajiro(small polar bear). If not possible,a nice rat works too.
Background: Matthew started his life in a rather average way; He was born in Quebec, living in a small town there with his family for a while. He was a fairly happy child, despite his shyness. However, after elementary school, they moved to Ontario, where he learned English more seriously. He didn't like it as much there and retain a certain fondness for French from his early days.
His stay in his new school didn't go over so well; as the new kid he kind of had hardship making friends, and his bit of hardship with English at first got him quite a few bullies. That mades him pretty lonely; He's still pretty bitter about it as well as awkward. He started discovering odd stuff happened during middle school and was transferred to another magic school, where he was pretty lost since he knew absolutely nothing on the subjects. He didn't really make friends there either though he was nothing but nice. His goal in life now is mainly to make some friends and perhaps even find love, a notion he got from the novels he tended to read when left alone.
Relations with other characters:
((Right now I didn't talk to any of the rpers though I'd love for him to be related to America and perhaps France or England. It's totally up to them though!))
Sample:
The Canadian was currently hugging a polar bear plush tight, leaning a little forward, his eyes glued to the screen. He was watching a really interesting documentary on animals who live in the cold, hoping to learn more on his favorite animal. Right now, it showed a strategy put up by killer whales to catch animals who stay on isolated little ice islands. They were putting it in place, the hunting technique showing a lot of ingenuity to Matthew; while he felt sorry for the poor little seal that would be eaten soon, he could only admire the predators. One of the killer whale was placed on one side while a few others, about five of them, created water current to place the chunk of ice in place. Matthew leaned even closer when the narrator said it was in the right position; the killer whale charged, creating a wave the seal couldn't fight off; the Canadian gasped, wide eyed, quite obviously engrossed in the show, as the first killer whale caught their prey. He felt both impressed by the predator and bad for the prey. It finally changed to show what he liked best; the polar bears. He smiled a little, relaxing as the really suspenseful moment ended.
Once the documentary was over, he smiled a little more, feeling content, before his eyes landed on the clock. Shit. He had to go to his hockey training. But that was half an hour ago. He didn't know what to do, jumping up to go get all his things, feeling like he was the stupidest person on earth. He grabbed his thankfully already made bag (he was worried it wouldn't be ready on time earlier. Well done, Matthew, way to go.) running out the door to hopefully catch a bus and get there before the end of the training session.
The rest
Anything else you'd like to add: I didn't actually read all of the Harry Potter books, and didn't read them in English so some terms are foreign for me. I read them when they came out too so a long while ago (since I stopped at the fourth.). I did watch the movies however so I hope it makes up for it.
