She was nervous, yes. But that didn't mean that she could hide in her room forever. Oh, no. Not even if that was what she wished she could do with all her heart. So she took a deep breath and slipped out of her room. She had her bag in her hand - it was, perhaps - time to attempt homework in the common room. And maybe one of the older students could help her if she had troubles.
So, she moved down the stairs, and settled herself into one of the window seats, tucking her feet up beside her on the seat. She'd... she'd work on her Transfiguration homework. That just required changing a book of matches into a book of needles. And... and she could always use more needles.
Taking a deep breath, she pulled out the book of matches, and isolated one. It was time to give this a try... much as she still wasn't sure of the spell.

If there was one thing Roderich loved about being a Ravenclaw, it was the disturbing lack of noise in the common room. Everything was quiet; while students talked, they generally kept to hushed talk so that their fellow housemen were able to do their work in peace. And with the quiet noise of the fire crackling in the hearth, the soft bicker of chatty students, it created an environment Roderich enjoyed entirely.
Looking up from his Ancient Studies paper that had his long, elegant script all over, the brunet surveyed the room, before noting someone he'd never noticed before. A new face perhaps? Most likely a first year that was shy. None the less she seemed intent in whatever she was doing, was it right to go and interrupt her just to introduce himself? Roderich sighed, musing over the idea for a few moments before deciding to approach the girl. He crossed the room quickly before pausing in front of her. "Please don't mind the intrusion, but I thought...you might need help?" But he stopped, mentally cursing himself for not introducing himself. "My name's Roderich...Roderich Edelstein. And if you don't need help it's fine, but I figured I'd introduce myself and let you know that if you ever need help, you can always find me over near the bookshelves of the common room working."
Good God he must sound absolutely creepy now.

Lili was frowning intently at the book of matches in her hand. If she concentrated hard enough... perhaps the spell would come to her? She'd remembered it well enough yesterday to not have thought to write it down, for goodness' sake. Really, she ought to take better notes. She was disappointed in herself. But it was just a simple spell... how could she not -- oh?
"Please don't mind the intrusion, but I thought... you might need help?"
Lili looked at the upperclassman, eyes wide with curiosity. Roderich Edelstein?
"N-no... I..." Her cheeks flushed pink as she spoke. "I... can't remember the incantation I need to do my homework... It was such a simple one that I... that I didn't write it down yesterday..." She peeked back up at him, flustered and shy. "I... I'm supposed to change these matches... i-into needles..." Realizing she hadn't introduced herself either, she blushed brighter. "A-and... I-I'm sorry... I'm Lili Walser... I sh-should have said sooner..."
Really, she should have considered looking through the books, rather than bothering him with her trivial worries - he had to have much more difficult homework than matches to sewing needles... "I-I'm sorry... r-really, you c-can just tell me where I can find the Transfiguration books on the... on the bookshelves... I d-don't mind looking... I don't wish to keep you from your studies..."
